Verse Scraps

A Treasure Hunt for the Soul

A Simple Scripture Activity for Churches, Schools, Families & Groups

Verse Scraps is a simple idea built around handwritten Bible verses and unexpected discovery.

All you need is paper, a pen or pencil, and a little time.

It's an activity that churches, Christian schools, homeschool families, youth groups, Bible studies, businesses, and other Christian organizations can enjoy together.

How It Works

Choose a Bible verse, write it by hand on a scrap of paper, and leave it somewhere appropriate where you're permitted to do so for someone else to discover.

Paper. Pen. Bible verses. Hide them. Find them. Talk about them.

For a group Treasure Hunt for the Soul:

  1. A leader writes or prepares handwritten Bible verses.
  2. Hide the Verse Scraps throughout an approved area.
  3. Invite participants to find a Verse Scrap.
  4. Gather everyone together to read the verses they discovered.
  5. Discuss what each verse means and how it might apply to everyday life.

The leader and group can join the conversation, creating an opportunity for reflection, encouragement, and shared discovery.

Themed Treasure Hunts

A Treasure Hunt for the Soul can also be built around a particular theme, Bible lesson, season, or group discussion.

Some possibilities include:

  • The Beatitudes
  • The Sermon on the Mount
  • The Parables of Jesus
  • Faith & Trust
  • Love & Kindness
  • Courage & Fear
  • Prayer
  • Serving Others
  • Christmas — The Birth of Jesus
  • Easter — The Resurrection

Choose one of these themes or create your own. The activity stays simple while offering countless ways to use it throughout the year.

Simple. Free. Meaningful.

There's no program to purchase, no membership required, and no special materials needed.

Just handwritten Scripture, a little creativity, and an opportunity to share God's Word.
